Paediatric First Aid
Course Aim
This course meets the recommendations laid down by the Health and Safety Executive for the Appointed Person in the Workplace certificate with the addition of the paediatric modules and is ideal for child carers, nursery workers and early years settings. The course is OFSTED approved and delivered over 12 hours, typically over two consecutive days. Course Content

- Initial Assessment
- Rescue Breathing - Adult, Child & Baby
- CPR - Adult, Child & Baby
- Choking Management - Adult, Child & Baby
- Control of Bleeding
- Shock Management
- Illness Assessment
- Injury Assessment
- Child related medical conditions which include epilepsy, diabetes and anaphylactic shock
Objectives
By the end of the programme, the candidate will be able to:
- Identify potentially hazardous situations in childcare settings
- Alert emergency systems
- Provide basic First Aid in the workplace to children and babies
- Ensure First Aid equipment is maintained
Examination Information
Delegates are assessed on their performance throughout the two days .
